What is Taiwan's opportunity in the global silicon photonics race?

This week, RVi Founder Dr. Jr-Hau He and Co-Founder & CTO Dr. Chih-Hsiang (Sam) Ho were invited to speak at the Taiwan–US Silicon Photonics Development Forum, hosted by the Taiwan Institute of Economic Research. The event brought together nearly 200 participants from academia, industry, and government, including four representatives from AIT.

Beyond a technical exchange, the forum served as a strategic dialogue on the future of global photonics innovation.

Dr. Ho shared how RVi is leveraging AI to drive next-generation Co-Packaged Optics (CPO) solutions—accelerating heterogeneous integration and enabling faster, lower-power, and higher-density optoelectronic systems.

Dr. He offered his insights on how Taiwan can evolve from a manufacturing powerhouse into a global force in photonics innovation. With strengths in advanced packaging, manufacturing agility, and system integration, Taiwan is well-positioned to shape the silicon photonics value chain.
